Sara Green and I put together a summary memo, which I've pasted below. Does it cover everything we agreed to, accurately? The site looks much better already, and I saw men out spraying, presumably herbicide, so thanks for the quick clean-up action. And I'll emphasize that folks in the community want to help however we can to get great business at the site, so let us know when the time comes. All the best, Seth, 301-270-0795 Thank you for meeting with the community on July 24, for agreeing to clean up your site, among other things, and for giving us more information about your plans. The DC and Maryland residents who attended agreed to support your request to replace the copper panels on the front of the building with pale green HardiPlank and to replace wood elements on the balconies with metal. (We note that there may be comments regarding the color.) We also agreed that it might be necessary to reduce the number of entrances. The group also said that they do not want the lot screened, but think leaving it visible to passers-by is best. While the lot was screened the day after the meeting, this is not an issue. You agreed: 1. not to rent the site to a Takoma Park city contractor for the storage of equipment and materials 2. to cut down the weeds, pick up the trash, remove the standing water, and move the chain link fence to create a small public parking lot by August 8, and to keep it free of weeds and trash. You agreed that using herbicides to kill the weeds would endanger the adjacent residents. 3. to remove the piles of asphalt on the site and to give us a date certain, in writing, when that will happen 4. to work with a variety of community organizations, including the Old Takoma Business Association, to match your retail spaces with appropriate tenants, and to review OTBA's marketing survey, currently underway. 5. to direct your construction management firm to meet with the community again to discuss and mitigate traffic and pedestrian safety and congestion, noise, construction hours, and other concerns prompted by the construction. You noted that the building's design provides 16-foot-wide sidewalks but access to the sidewalks may be restricted during construction. 6. to conduct a thorough rodent eradication program before and during construction You also told us that: 1. SGA now plans to start construction in September and plans to conclude by Thanksgiving 2009. 2. the residential units will be rented rather than sold as condominiums Again, thank you for meeting, listening, and sharing your ideas. We ask for a written acknowledgement of this agreement, and of course want to learn of any corrections or additions. However, it is understood that no written response on your part means that you have accepted the agreement as written and will comply with its terms. We look forward to meeting with you again as your project starts construction in September.
